Provo is the third-largest city in the US state of Utah, located 43 miles south of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front. Provo is the largest city and county seat of Utah County. It lies between the cities of Orem to the north and Springville to the south. With a population at the 2010 census of 112,488, Provo is the principal city in the Provo-Orem metropolitan area, which had a population of 526,810 residents at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest metro area in the state behind Salt Lake City and Ogden-Clearfield.
The city is home to Brigham Young University, a private higher education institution, which is operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Provo is also home to the largest Missionary Training Center for the LDS Church. The city is a key operational center for Novell and has been a focus area for technology development in Utah, with several billion dollar startups operating in Provo. Provo was also the 2nd city in the US to work with Google Fiber. The city is also home to the Peaks Ice Arena, which served as a venue for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002. Sundance Resort is located 13 miles northeast at Provo Canyon.
In July of 2013, Brody Rasmussen, Dallin Earl, Jaren Garff, Brayden Rasmussen, Seth Garff, two of Brayden and Seth's friends, and Travis Neal sang "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons at a variety show at Brigham Young University. They spent a great amount of time practicing in a dorm room in Heritage Halls.
In 2015, Dallin Earl, Jaren Garff, and Christian Hair all started school at Brigham Young University. That same year, Travis Neal was sent to the Missionary Training Center to prepare for his mission in the Montana Billings Mission. He was there the same time as Maddy Auman, and they got to see each other while there.
