Camp Cole is a Boy Scout camp in the Tahoe National Forest, northwest of Soda Springs. It is notable for its high altitude of 6,700 feet and the surrounding alpine forest and lakes. It is on the south shore of Lake Sterling on leased land owned by the U.S. Forest Service.
In August of 2012, some of the Young Men went up to Camp Cole to listen to a devotional. They got there an hour early, so they explored nearby Lake Sterling. They went to the devotional and waited for the speaker, but he didn't show up for an hour, so they left.
