A San Francisco Cable Car

The Cable Cars in San Francisco are the last manually operated cable car system in the world. Built between 1873 and 1890, the cable cars were created as a mode of transportation, since it was hard for horse-drawn carriages to make it up the steep hills in San Francisco. Today they are still used as a major form of transportation, and have become an iconic landmark in San Francisco.
